‘Fighting Childhood Cancer One Cup at a Time’ is the mission of this unique foundation which began as a lemonade stand in the front yard of a young cancer patient, Alex Scott. Jay Scott, Executive Director of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, is pictured with the TCCC recipients of Alex's Lemonade Stand funding.  Scott visited the Texas Children's Cancer Center faculty and researchers who have benefitted from the grant funding from this distinctive organization.  Day-by-day the researchers at Texas Children's move toward their goal to find a cure for all pediatric cancers.

Astronaut brings CD's from Outer Space


CDs from Purple Songs Can Fly, a creative music program unique to Texas Children’s Cancer Center, soared into outer space and traveled to the International Space Station aboard Discovery with NASA astronaut,Scott Parazynski.  He returned the CDs for a special celebration.

Hyundai "Hope on Wheels" donates $100,000


The Texas Children’s Cancer Center was recently presented a check for $100,000 from the Hyundai Scholars Pediatric Cancer Fellowship Program. The new Hyundai program funds research positions at top pediatric cancer centers across the country, to increase attention on finding cures for this devastating disease.

 

Kinkaid School Senior Serenades Cancer Center


Justin Parker, a senior at the Kinkaid School in Houston, played a solo  performance for Cancer Center patients. Justin has been participating in an interim term internship at Texas Children's Hospital that allows him to explore one of his future career aspirations -- cancer treatment.

Nicky's Journey Donates 100th Portable DVD Player


Nicky's Journey, a non-profit organization, donated their 100th DVD player! Peyton, a six-year old patient of the Cancer Center, was the lucky recipient of this donation. In order to provide a diversion during treatment, Nicky's Journey donates portable DVD players, player cases, and thirty dollar Wal-Mart gift certificates to children with cancer.
