Art Happenings are ongoing weekly art opportunties that "happen" at Texas Children's Cancer Center and Hematology Service. Art Happenings are made possible through relationships with Houston area art organizations.

Watercolor Art Society--Houston
(WAS-H)
Tuesdays from 10 am to noon

Guided by a WAS-H member, patients can discover the joys of painting with watercolor or have their portraits painted while waiting for their appointments.

Writers In The Schools (WITS)
Wednesdays 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

One writer from WITS works year round with patients in the Outpatient clinic, as well as the Bone Marrow Transplant unit, instructing and helping them cultivate the creative writing process. The AIM Program uses the fruits of their labor and creativity to put together The Splendid Review, a quarterly newsletter of children's writing that is sent to patients and their families.

City ArtWorks
Fridays 10 am to noon

Resident artist Diana Sanchez from City ArtWorks assists patients with art projects such as printing, leaf prints and self-portraits, to name a few. She especially works with patients at bedside to help promote healing while they are receiving treatment.
